In vitro studies L(+)-Rhamnose (Rham) is a naturally occurring deoxy sugar found primarily in plants and some bacteria. Unlike most natural sugars, it has an L rather than a D configuration. It is a major structural component of plant cell walls and is bound to other compounds such as phenolics. It is currently used as an anti-wrinkle agent due to its anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties.
